No American group has ever investigated the 1985 crash of a DC-8 over Gander, Newfoundland and the deliberate murder of 256 American soldiers by the CIA, because their Special Operations personnel refused to carry out orders to detonate a man-portable nuclear device in Iraq. Go to THE CHARLES M. BYERS website if you're not familiar with this story.
White House spokesman Larry Speakes informed us that the crash was caused by "icing on the wings" even before anyone reached the scene; notwithstanding the fact that a charred body was found in an onscathed tree, indicating a fire on board before the plane hit the ground.

"... let’s forget that the career prosecutors were employed by the politicized Justice Department of the Bush administration and that they reported to a politically-appointed assistant attorney general."

A small point for me to add, perhaps, but those career prosecutors were also quite mindful, I'm sure, of the several U.S. Attorneys summarily fired, with their reputations smeared, for not marching aggressively enough to the Rove political tune... mindful of the hell that the Cheney minions put Jesselyn Radack, Thomas Tamm, Mary McCarthy, and untold others through... mindful of Valerie Plame's treasonous retaliatory outting and career ruination.

That backstory oughtn't be allowed to slip down the Memory Hole as this "review" moves forward.

It's hell when someone like this can't feel the pain and injustice. I guess they feel superior to the common man. There isn't any defense for these crimes. There is no excuse for torture. There shouldn't be any sympathy for those who wrote, ordered, signed or carried out this pain. People who feel differently must live in a world of make believe. I can't respect this type of thinking.
