I have another parable:

A man has a house that was built by a contractor who was corrupt. The contractor used beach sand, full of salt, in the concrete for the foundation, because he got it cheaper than good sand, so now the foundation was crumbling. He shorted the owner on the frame of the house, saving money by spacing out the studs in the frame by 24" instead of the 16" established in the building code. He used cheap Chinese-imported sheetrock that exudes toxins, and used fiberboard instead of plywood for sheathing. The whole house is now in danger of collapse.
Recognizing that he has a problem, the owner decides he needs to do some major repair, so he hires, not a new contractor, but the same crooked contractor that build the house. The contractor comes in, looks at the house, and says, "What you need is some new carpet, a new roof, and some braces in the basement."
$30,000 later, the owner notices that the walls of the basement are still crumbling, the house shakes every time someone closes a door, and everyone in the family has asthma.
He can't figure out why, after spending $30,000 to fix his house, it is still getting worse. So he calls his same contractor and asks him what he should do.
The contractor suggests that he should replace the carpet, get another new roof, and by the way, he'd like a $10,000 bonus so he can take the wife on a vacation.

Well at first I thought Obama was well falling behind on his promises, I was caught up in the media's expectation. then I thought about health care and his foreign policy, and how much further he came than anyone before, not to mention how the world has warmed up to us now - but what really changed my mind when it came to obama's first year and how he is doing was this article and the allegory it provided check it out
