Simple. The industry over-reached. They thought they could get everything, and they pushed it too far.

Social comments and analytics for this post...

This post was mentioned on Reddit by dfaraci: if it was all about ensuring the enrichment of the various players in the health care industry, then why would the healthcare industry fight against it? And why would it be so close to failing?...

The author fails to mention a few important points. First of all the Constitution does not allow for a constitutional convention. Instead it allows for a "convention to propose amendments" more commonly referred to as an Article V Convention. That convention can only propose amendments to our present Constitution thus leaving that document intact but amended as required.

Amendments can solve these issues he mentions. Indeed, if you go to www.foavc.org and view the 750 applications from all 50 states you'll quickly see the states saw this issue a long time ago and proposed amendments to be considered at a convention to deal with it. The problem is Congress refuses to call a convention as it is mandated to do and therefore has prevent the needed reforms. As a result the problems have grown steadily worse.

Call your member of Congress. Ask why they feel they have the right to veto the Constitution. Demand they obey it and call the convention!

Texans have a chance to change where we have been heading. We need more Ron Pauls in this country. Texas has a chance for one as Governor. Her name is Debra Medina.
