Watchdog group Media Matters for America has launched this television ad against CNN and Lou Dobbs, set to air Tuesday on MSNBC and Fox News, in an effort to expose what would appear to be racially motivated rants by the CNN host about the veracity of President Barack Obama’s birth certificate and whether Obama, who right-wingers say was born in Kenya, is eligible to be president.
The ad was also scheduled to air on CNN during Dobbs’s show, but network executives nixed those plans.
According to the Huffington Post’s Sam Stein:
A television advertisement attacking CNN host Lou Dobbs for promoting the “birther” conspiracy theory will not be airing during Dobbs’s show — or on CNN at all — on most of the cable systems that the group behind the ad had intended.
According to the Media Matters official, five of the six cable providers contracted for the project have informed the group that they are declining to put the spot on CNN. All of them will air the ad on Fox News and MSNBC.
In New York City, the cable provider ViaMedia will air the ad, though the company is a relatively small player in the city. Time Warner will air the Media Matters spot in New York, both on MSNBC and Fox News but not on CNN.
In defense of his reporting, Dobbs said he doesn’t “understand why [Obama won't] produce his long-form birth certificate and be done with it.”
“For that, I have been attacked — I mean, from Bill Maher, from the left all over the country and almost every medium. It is extraordinary — I mean, I don’t know who in the world hasn’t attacked me on this issue,” Dobbs said. “While we find — what find that most — you know, over 80 percent in an AOL Hotspot poll believe — basically side with me, 82 percent. Why not just produce the birth certificate? ”
Dobbs said Media Matters is “nothing more than a rabid, left-wing operation. They’re just an attack group. They’re sort of the Swift Boat of the left, if you will.”
The online poll Dobbs cited was not scientific and included a disclaimer alerting readers to that fact.
Media Matters has also set up a website, dobbsconspiracy.com, in hopes of attracting financial support to offset the costs of running the ad numerous times.
I never thought birth of Obama will become such a big discussion topic. I am following this closely to see where this conspiracy ends. What really pisses me off about the insane nonsense that Lou Dobbs is saying is that Barack Obama is actually the only President in US history to have made his birth certificate public record. Why was he not calling for George W. Bush’s birth certificate? Did he ever ask to see Bill Clinton’s? This is absolute BS. CNN should pull Dobbs from the air.
Dobbs is right. Obama put up or get out.
I don’t trust ANY politician and almost no one in the media. I still want two answers.
1) Why can’t we see his long-form? Obama knows that millions of citizens want to see it yet he continues to hide it. What/why is he hiding?

2) Why don’t BHO’s supporters want to know the whole truth, especially since there’s a reward of $100,000 for proof that Obama is a “natural born” citizen of the United States.

people are talking about him showing his birth certificate but that is not big deal. it can and probably will be a fake one. they have power to do just about anything they want done. it is not that hard to make a fake one. he is a foreigner, he got student loans as a foreign student also.
They allow well place ads against Lou Dobbs and yet FORBID any signs questioning the validity of B.O.’s birth certificate,
“never mind the men behind the curtain.”
