Raw Story reports:
A video posted to YouTube a few weeks ago making the rounds across the internet apparently shows Fox News Channel host Glenn Beck having Vicks applied under his eyes in order to cry on cue for a photo shoot.
One blog, Sensico, mocks, “This is only shocking video to those that love Glenn Beck and think he cries non-stop because he ‘loves this country.’”

HA! I love it, thanks for posting this here. Maybe he should think about product placement, along the lines of “Glenn Beck’s tears, brought to you by Vic’s, America’s most powerful perfumed petro-product. When it comes to crying on cue, choosy propagandists choose Vic’s.”
Beck’s fake tears, sponsored unwittingly by Vic’s, are the perfect symbols for Fox News and the entire Rovian approach to politics, which recognizes that the primum mobilum of electorates is not powered by facts, but by myths.
This is the tip of the iceberg of today’s most important question: beings, or machines? Citizens, or subjects?
Allow me to ask: why do we treat Petraeus and McChrystal and Odierno et al., as if they’re talking about the weather?
When the West by and large abandoned the traditional image of god, we nevertheless kept its construct. We still conceive of ourselves and our source as constructed mechanisms, as artifacts.
We didn’t do away with religion, we just substituted Newton’s laws, and the priesthood of science, for the old order. We still fervently believe in the rule of force. Nowadays, we take the earth for granted, as god-forsaken dirt with which we may do as we please.
The same myth still *moves* us. We’ve simply substituted scientists as the priests, and elevated above all others the science of war.
That’s why we treat military men as if they were *weather men.* As with Beck’s petro-powered tears, we believe we can create the world we desire by force (“kinetic activity”) and fiat–without there being any essential difference between, eg. “grass roots” and “astroturf.”
In Glenn Beck’s world, since everyone outside his group is on the way to hell, helping them move along faster is a laudable goal. In the world as conceived by science, we’re all mere mechanisms, governed by Newton’s laws and application of sufficient kinetic activity, nothing more.
Same goes for psy-ops, which in this context are better known as propaganda and torture. Compliance, externally observed, is substituted for evidence of expression of free will. GWB infamously said the ’04 election was his accountability moment, when we all now know it, too, was faked.
This is a most crucial point about human behavior: facts don’t move electorates, myths do. Beck’s fake tears are of a kind with the methods of the health care reform “debate.”
The facts are much less important than the narrative’s effect on the polity.
Here’s how to do it: You fake a narrative that works within the dominant mythos, and you use it to jack people around like chattel; thus the name, “myth-jacking.” Works like a charm.
ALAN WATTS: I want to start by giving what may be, to many of you, a new definition of the word ‘myth.’ As normally used, the word myth means an idle tale, a fable, a falsehood, or an idea that’s out of date; something untrue. But there is another, older, stricter use of the word myth, whereby it doesn’t mean something untrue, but it means an image in terms of which people make sense of life and the world. http://shop.alanwatts.org/content/myth-and-religion

Obama can’t even TALK without reading someone else’s words off of a teleprompter, and you are worried about Beck using Vicks to help him? At least they are his OWN tears…
NOBAMA!
Nobama? It’s a little late for that. The country has already said Yes! Yes we can!
Obama 2012!
oh no! he put on vick’s in order to cry for a PHOTOSHOOT!!?? The world is ending!!!
People, it’s a photoshoot… it’s going to be fake. People wear make-up, costumes, whatever… that’s what you do in a photoshoot! Good grief.
We knew he was fake all along. I doubt this will convince the republican ditto heads.
Don’t get too excited Libs..I’d bet money that the reason he did this was because he is known for being emotional at times and crying. I’m thinking it’s a photoshoot for something(magazine story etc.)that is having fun wit his emotional tendancies. As in he doesn’t take himself too seriously. Glenn is the man as far as I’m concerned.
Derek, you have a low threshold for manhood.
Bryan, are you old enough to be outside without supervision? As if we never heard of a photoshoot! On a site like this, you might consider crediting your readers with more than a 3rd grade education, if you can imagine that.
You want fake? OK, how ’bout those fake Iraqi WMD? Or the faked presidential elecitions of 00 and 04? Or the fake confessions tortured out of innocent people?

Glenn Beck’s tears are as fake as Carrie Prejean’s b@@b job. And that’s the whole point, morons: the GOP offers a fake narrative that leads us only into disaster. Sad to say, but same goes for the spineless Democratic Party, for example, Sen. Baucus, saying he needs 60 votes to pass health care reform.
No, the world isn’t ending, Bryan, and no one suggested such a stupid thing. But how are we today, after 8 years of fake government? How’s that fake government working out for us? And yet all Beck, Fox News, and Rovian politics offers us is more of the same fake future.
Get a freakin’ clue.
Dave..That’s all you’ve got? Talk smack with nothing to back it up. You didn’t even address what the topic was about(Beck having fun with an obvious photoshoot). Your so typical. Keep the blinders on buddy..2010 & 2012 will be the first steps towards this country getting back to hopefully a chance to realize how fortunate we are to live in the greatest nation on earth. To fully appreciate our liberties and freedoms. See I’m just a regular person that believes the government doesn’t need to hold my hand every step of the way. I like thinking for myself and working hard to provide my family it’s needs..including health insurance etc..I don’t try to push my beliefs on others unlike self-righteous people people like yourself. So you can kiss my ass and in the future you just might wise up and realize a “real man(or women)” likes to be free to believe and think and be a success or a failure without a the governemnt dictating all my moves.
Oh I know you didn’t!
Your fake argument just proves my point. Show me where I say, oh please, big gov’t, come hold my hand. I suggest you look up “projecting,” and “straw man argument.” You’ll be glad you did.
A) Didn’t even address it? Your IQ is as low as your threshold for manhood. Try reading with your eyes open and your lips not moving.

And in my reply (above), I addressed it, like now, by my amazement that you don’t think someone smart enough to read TPR, and comment, understands that point. Thank you, Mr. Obvious.
It’s a symbol of Rove’s fake politics. So’ ‘s you’re fake argument. Which brings me to
B) Who thinks gov’t needs to hold their hand? WTF does that have to do with what I said? Your threshold for manhood is as low as your IQ, using a straw man like that. How ’bout you address something I say, namely, the apt symbolism of Glenn Beck’s fake tears and Carrie Prejean’s fake b@@bs for Karl Rove’s fake politics? As I said, get a freakin’ clue.
You could’ve even throw in examples of fake Democratic Party politics, but no, you have to go shadow-boxing with something I didn’t even say. Try reading while listening to the words you’re reading, instead of arguing with them all the while, maybe that will help your comprehension. Good luck with that.
Thanks for the verbal sparring. I’ve got to go paint a house front. I bow, LMAO, in your virtual direction.
Dave..Your funny:)..and arrogant..face it, your threatened by people like Glenn Beck who put the truth out there for discussion. Keep your head in the sand if thats what makes you feel good. You sound really smart with all your(in your own mind..intellectual) gibberish your spewing..not really.
I heard that!
If everyone remembers chimpy with that box under his jacket when he was debating with Kerry years ago, couldn’t even make a comprehensive sentence with help.
During his 8 years of held our country captive he embarrassed the United States to the whole world.
We are now free of him forever. and hopefully we will never have another idiot in the White House to leave enormous piles of manure behind for others to clean up after him.
If Dave had gone beyond a fifth grade education he might have posted something intelligent. But he didnt.
Like the rest of the fringe beck is a fake. And all dave can come up with are some lame attacks? What a joke.
Come on folks, let’s be real…..Glenn Beck is a clown, in this case, with his fake tears, a sad clown.
Just like Limbaugh, Beck doesn’t offer serious commentary……He is a TV entertainer…..his job is to have a TV show with high ratings so that Fox can sell lots of advertising. He will say anything to make his show successful and keep his cushy job.
Anybody who takes Beck seriously is demeaning themselves. Try reading a book or listening to some serious commentary.
Derek, I don’t think you can credibly insult someone else’s intelligence when you yourself can’t differentiate between “your” and “you’re” when posting on a public forum.
Derek, you make me absolutely and 100% proud to be a Republican. I couldn’t have said any of it better, and I love the “Strawman Argument” namedrop. Keep showing em how it’s done!! ” ;-)
You got it right, Dave. Don’t waste too much breath on the likes of Derek. The constant brainwashing buzz in their heads is only surpassed by the blindness of their eyes.
They glory at every opportunity to spew forth their tripe, and any opposition only verifies their righteousness. Typical martyrdom syndrome, alot like Jehovah Witnesses.
